The Virtual Cell software is a Java Application. You need to install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later. If you do not have Java, your computer will most likely prompt you to save the jnlp (Java Web Start) file since it does not recognize the file type. Once Java is installed, your computer will recognize the application and bring you to the Virtual Cell login screen. If you should encounter any difficulties, please contact Virtual Cell support. Reminder for Mac Users: You need to be using at least Mac Os X 10.1, because of many bugs in the Apple's JVM implementation. We recommend to install the 10.1.1 update which incorporates many improvements as well. General Hardware Requirements:
